Sivers Semiconductors collaborates with PureSoftware to demonstrate 5G integrated reference design leveraging NXP® Semiconductors
About the solution
Customers such as network operators require an integrated transceiver/RFIC solution together with a digital baseband/modem as there is no appetite to do integration activities on their own. With proven pre-integrated transceiver-baseband technology, the operator can go directly to an ODM or box-builder for their final product.

The PureSoftware integration of the NXP Layerscape baseband and the TRB02801 transceiver
- shows a complete and deployable solution for an ORAN split 7.2 RU/base station for infrastructure applications.
- demonstrates the availability of low-level RFIC driver control and low-PHY L1 software that can be extended to a full-stack UE/CPE solution using third party software providers from the NXP ecosystem.
Demo at MWC2024 in booth #5E2 in hall 5
The demo will show that the Sivers TRB02801 transceiver and antenna module has been integrated with the NXP baseband solution and is ready for deployment by operators through the use of ODMs/box builders or OEMs.
Demo description
Sivers mmWave transceivers have full interoperatibility with NXP baseband hardware and can be deployed with good performance in infrastructure (ORAN split 7.2 RU) and UE/CPE applications using software from NXP eco-system partners such as PureSoftware.
- Lower-PHY and TRB02801 driver code on NXP LA1224 baseband provides required functionality for ORAN split 7.2 RU applications, as well as foundation for full-stack integrated UE/CPEs and gNBs.
- Zero-IF interface of the LA1224 NXP base-band processor directly interfaced with TRB02801, BOM cost reduction compared to an IF-transceiver-based solution.
Technical Deep Dive Description
- A FR2 24.5-29.5G ORAN split 7.2 RU based on the Sivers TRB02801 fully integrated beamforming mmWave transceiver RFIC with antenna array
- Support for up to 1×100, 2×200 and 1×400 MHz downlink & uplink using up to two spatial streams
- Control of analog beamforming capabilities of the TRB02801 mmWave transceiver
- Optional DU emulator software running on LX2160 based boards available for testing through PureSoftware
