From our UK-based foundry near Glasgow, Scotland, we provide end-to-end design, manufacture and qualification for early-phase prototypes and high-volume production, supporting up to 100mm wafer sizes on InP, GaAs, GaSb and GaN substrates.
Our team of over 80 staff are working across roles in R&D, wafer fabrication and backend assembly & test, as well as in various commercial roles.
Role
Within this role you will maintain and provide support for all associated optical/electrical test equipment and systems through wafer fabrication and assembly and assist with development and installation of new test equipment & systems, both hardware and software. In addition you will develop and implement software script / protocols to automate data extraction from raw test results.
Responsibilities
- Maintenance and development of existing test system’s software & hardware.
- Provide technical support to test operators on both hardware and software issues.
- Evaluation of new test requirements.
- Writing relevant documentation.
- Regular interface with all other Engineering functions.
- Provide feedback to engineering team on equipment performance and any operation problems.
- Continuous improvement activities for productivity improvements within test area.
Experience
- Qualified to at least degree level in Optics, Physics or related field, preferably with more than 5 years’ post-grad experience in academia or industry.
- Proficient in LabVIEW programming and competent using Microsoft Software including Excel with VB programming.
- Knowledge & experience in photonics, fibre optics and laser test is essential.
- Working experience probe tester, lasers, detectors, optical source meter instruments, spectrum analysers, motion controllers (or similar equipment) and benchtop optics is highly advantageous.
- Competent with other MS Applications PowerPoint and Word for windows.
- SAS jmp or Minitab analysis software experience is beneficial.
- Knowledge of Measurement Systems Analysis including Gauge R&R studies would be useful but not essential as training would be given.
- Demonstrate solid, methodical problem-solving skills.
