From Sivers IMA to Sivers Semiconductors
Our history began over 70 years ago with an engineer who believed in microwave and millimeter wave technology. Today, Sivers Semiconductors AB is a leading and internationally renowned supplier of components to the wireless and fiber data & telecommunication market. The wholly owned subsidiaries Sivers Wireless AB and Sivers Photonics Ltd. develop and offer advanced semiconductor technology within microwave, millimeter wave and optical semiconductors.
This is our history
1951 The engineer Carl von Sivers founded Sivers Lab AB and manufactured passive microwave products and slotted line VSWR detectors for professional and educational use.
1960 Philips, Sweden acquires Sivers Lab AB. Active circuits and signal sources are added to the product lineup and a training kit for microwave education is developed.
1975 IMA AB was founded in Stockholm and begins producing microwave components, hybrid products and high stability local oscillators for radars.
1983 Philips, Sweden acquires IMA AB and merges the two companies with a new name – Sivers IMA. The company produced magnetically tunable filters and oscillators for microwave frequencies employing YIG technology (Yttrium iron garnet). The company continues to expand the production of high quality hybrid voltage controlled oscillators (VCOs).
1990 Sivers IMA wants to approach the market as an independent supplier. Thus SI Holding AB was created for a management buy-out from Philips. Front end for level gauging (X band FMCW) is launched.
1997 The demand for telecom products increases and Sivers IMA sells their high power microwave product operations to facilitate the development of active commercial wireless/telecom active products. Sivers IMA retains the Hybrid Oscillator products and launches their Ultra Wide Band Oscillators.
1998 Sivers IMA acquires Lyscom from Lysekil in Sweden. Lyscom develops and produces microwave filters diplexers and couplers and subsystems for microwave radios and satcom front ends.
2000 At the European Microwave week in Paris, Sivers IMA introduces tune free diplexers for radio link applications. A new R&D department is established in Gothenburg.
2004 Sivers IMA introduces a family of low phase noise VCO and opens a sales office in the USA.
2006 Sivers IMA introduces a family of ultra wideband VCOs covering 2-20 GHz with the latest MMIC technology and a design that enables a very small unit. Is awarded a contract for development of 60 GHz converters for a US customer.
2011 Sivers IMA introduces two new Millimeter Wave Converters to the telecom market, the FC1002V, and the FC1001E, both intended to enable gigabit per second wireless data transmission. Begin development of its proprietary MMICs for millimeter wave transceivers. A grant is awarded from Vinnova in support of the first phases.
2012 Development of enhanced converters.
2013 A major telecom customer choose Sivers IMA’s V-band converter for its ground breaking V-band radio link concept. We acquire Trebax AB, a strong addition with system expertise and a long heritage of radio link development.
2014 Sivers IMA enhances its position as a serious supplier of telecommunication and sensor products in volume, through production investments and hiring of additional experienced staff members. The first fully integrated propriety MMIC up and down converter chips are successfully tested and qualification is launched.
2017 Sivers IMA confirms that thier new WiGig chipset reaches world class performance. The objective has been to make the best WiGig chip including an active antenna for infrastructure applications and the results show state of the art performance and functionality. The TRX BF01/00 is unique in its approach to address tough infrastructure applications by offering world class phase noise, very wide frequency coverage (14 GHz), robustness and link budgets for longer reach.The tests confirm the exceptional frequency coverage over the whole band from 57 to 71 GHz, in combination with world class Tx output power, which enables longer reach and greater flexibility than any other beamforming chip at 60 GHz. The throughput achieved fulfills the maximum modulation code rate for Single Carrier – MCS12, which is equivalent to 4,6 Gbps according to the IEEE802.11ad standard.
2017 Sivers IMA Holding acquire CST Global, an independent manufacturer of III-V photonic devices that provides custom, foundry services in wafer, coated bar, chip device and die on tape formats. The acquisition of CST Global is an important part of the strategic plan to establish Sivers IMA as a leading global electronics component supplier within data and telecommunications.

2017 Sivers IMA Holding AB has been approved for trading on Nasdaq First North Stockholm and moved from Aktietorget. The first trading day of the company’s shares on Nasdaq First North was on November 30th, 2017.
2018 Sivers IMA WiGig chip paper was selected the number one industry showcase at IEEE Radio Frequency Integrated Circuit (RFIC) Symposium 2018, Philadelphia, in competition with major semiconductor companies like Intel, Qualcomm, Samsung, Infineon and others. The IEEE RFIC symposium is the world premier RFIC conference focused on RFIC technology.
2020 Sivers IMA subsidiary CST Global receives a development order worth SEK 7.5 million from a US Fortune 100 customer. The order is for the supply of photonic semiconductor devices within the optical sensing market.
2020 Sivers IMA changes name to Sivers Semiconductors and also changes the names of its subsidiaries to Sivers Wireless (formerly Sivers IMA AB) and Sivers Photonics (formerly CST Global) to better reflect their respective markets. The name change is part of a larger marketing and branding work to clarify the common identity within the Group.
2021 Sivers Semiconductors AB has been approved for trading on Nasdaq Stockholm and moves from Nasdaq First North Stockholm. The first trading day of the company’s shares on Nasdaq Stockholm was June 10th, 2021.
MixComm 2022 Sivers Semiconductors aquires MixComm. MixComm was launched in 2017 to commercialize over 10 years of research at Columbia University on the use of RFSOI process technology for mmWave applications. MixComm’s executive team with past experience from Columbia, Qualcomm, NXP and Global Foundries has more mmWave and RFSOI experience than any company in the market.
