Sivers IMA today announces the launch of the highly integrated wideband RFIC with electronic beam forming for licensed 5G applications at Mobile World Congress starting Monday February 25thin Barcelona, Spain.
The target application for this new product is the 5G Fixed Wireless Access market. The product
will be applicable to both 5G NR based use cases as well as proprietary point-to-multipoint systems using alternative wave forms. According to SNS research, the total addressable market for 5G Fixed Wireless Access is estimated to be $ 28 billion in 2025 with an annual +85% growth from 2020.
The new RFIC, TRX BF/02, is based on the Sivers IMA IEEE award-winning technology and architecture used for unlicensed 5G at the 60 GHz band and provides a unique level of integration compared to what is available on the market today.
“We are very proud to be able to release a product that will push the industry to use more cost- efficient solutions in the upcoming commercial 5G trials and deployments taking place around the world”, says Anders Storm, CEO of Sivers IMA Holding, and continues: “We see a great advantage in providing a product that is probably the only product on the market that support such a wide frequency band. Our new RFIC supports 24.0 GHz to 29.5 GHz. This will help our customers to support different markets and different frequency bands using the same hardware. We are unique today with our unlicensed 5G (57-71 GHz) RFIC and it is great to be able to offer a unique offering also to the licensed 5G market”
A few selected lead customers have started development based on this RFIC. They have received the first samples of the product and are right now developing products based on Sivers IMA RFIC technology. Sivers IMA will demonstrate the RFIC using a 5G NR waveform live at Mobile World Congress.
The demonstrations will take place in hall 5 at stand 5E81 at the Mobile World Congress between February 25th– 28th, 2019.
